| British film and television companies
are on the look-out for personnel with military experience
to act as extras – and up to 300 are needed immediately
for the filming of a new series of Ultimate Force.
Two companies are leading the search for extras, or ‘supporting
artists’ (SAs).
Mad Dog Casting is one of the largest casting agencies in
the UK, and has supplied SAs for many major feature films,
including the James Bond movie Die Another Day. It has also
supplied extras for TV productions and commercials.
The agency acts as an agent for an extra, taking bookings
and contacting each individual if and when needed.
e-media-c is a company which is supported by the Government
through Trade partners. This firm promotes individuals to
the people who book extras.
They do this through a website, which has made e-media-c
the market leader in their field, with clients such as Marks
and Spencer, Great Universal Stores, Sky Movies, Channel 4,
Discovery Channel and major advertising agencies.
Paul Booth, the Chief Executive of e-media-c, said: “The
film industry would prefer to deal with Supporting Artists
with military experience even if they have no experience in
front of the camera, rather than try to teach traditional
Supporting Actors how to act in a military environment.”
For Ultimate Force specifically, they are mainly looking
for males who look 20 to 35 years old, although for other
productions the criteria will vary.
Those who wish to participate need to be registered with
e-media-c. There is no guarantee of a place on Ultimate Force,
or any other production, but Mad Dog casting will act as agent
and e-media-c will promote each person to key casting agencies
in the UK.
Payment for Supporting Artist work starts at about £73
per day.
