Royal Navy airman’s body repatriated   18.06.03 12:31

The body of Lt Marc Lawrence, the seventh member of 849 Naval Air Squadron A Flight who died in March when two Sea King Mk 7 helicopters collided in the Gulf, has been repatriated to the UK.

Lt Lawrence’s body was recovered by the minehunter HMS Ramsey, and it means that all crew members who died in the accident have now been recovered.

His parents have expressed a sense of relief that their son’s body was found.

Capt Mike Knowles, the Commanding Officer of RN air station Culdrose, where 849 NAS is based, said: “Our thoughts remain with Lt Lawrence’s family and fiancée at this distressing time.

“I hope that this news will help bring an end to their anguish and uncertainty.”
