Loud and proud at BRNC   26.02.04 12:49

Particularly powerful sunglasses were the order of the day at the home of Royal Navy officer training as staff and cadets at Britannia Royal Naval College left traditional Service ties at home for something a bit more individual.

Dartmouth staff were encouraged to wear the loudest, brightest ties in their collections to raise awareness of and cash for research into bowel cancer on the day of the ‘Big Tie-Up’.

The efforts, on January 29, brought in £187.72, with Britannia’s Commanding Officer Cdre Tony Johnstone-Burt singling out S/Lt Andrew Scorer’s multi-coloured neckwear as the loudest tie in the establishment, winning the junior officer a lunch voucher.
