Road safety highlighted at Devonport   18.11.04 09:57

Devonport Naval Base has played its part in road safety by hosting a series of events aimed at all road users.

As part of National Road Safety Awareness Week, Devonport offered a range of facilities, including advisory roadside vehicle health checks and drop-in eyesight checks.

A pavilion of exhibits with static and interactive displays from a wide range of organizations was available for two days, offering a driving skills test with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), Devon and Cornwall Constabulary offered advice on safe motorcycling, and bike retailer Natural Cycles offered advice on bike maintenance and safe lighting.

Capt Lamour, Captain of the Base, said: “It is vitally important that we take every opportunity to educate and remind personnel of the actions they can take to maximize safety on the road.

“I am delighted that the Naval Base is providing facilities to support the campaign.”
