Divers remembered

  02.08.07 14:14

It has taken 25 years, but the names of the Navy's clearance diving teams have been added to the Liberation monument at Port Stanley.

It took the concerted efforts of Commodore Amphibious Warfare Cdre Michael Clapp, Naval clearance divers and Sukey Cameron of the Falkland Islands Government to bring this change into effect in time for the commemorations this June.

The names 1 FCDT1 and 3 FCDT are now inscribed in the stone monument as a permanent memorial to the Fleet Clearance Diving Teams that saved three major warships and two Royal Fleet Auxiliaries in the Battle of San Carlos Water.
