North Atlantic Convoys: Eric is trying to get information on his fathers service life. His father, Frederick Ellis Robinson, served on convoy duty to Murmansk and Archangel. One of the ships mentioned was HMS Whitehaven J121, though this may have just been one of the ships in the group, not his. If you can help with information contact Eric St.John

Convoy Escort Base: Seeking information about the working up base HMS Western Isles located at Tobermory on Mull, during World War II. Commanded by the charismatic Vice-Admiral Sir Gilbert Stephenson (The Tobermory Terror) this unlikely Hebridean base was responsible for training more than 1300 crews in 911 different ships in its five and a half year life. Ships of all Allied nations attended but the predominance was for RN ships - Flower Class and Black Swan Class etc. Does anyone know where a list of the ships names which passed through the course are held and if they are readily available? I David is attempting to record all the participating vessels by name, nationality and history. Their success was spectacular with more than 90 U-Boats sunk and around 40 enemy aircraft destroyed. HMS Collingwood: Henry Bullock had a photograph and his training colleagues taken in November 1942 on the Main Top of HMS Collingwood. All of his colleagues and PO Underwood were given copies, but Henry has lost his over the years. Can anyone provide a copy for him. Contact his grandson, David Bullock

Cap Tallies: Mr D M Churcher has posed the question 'What was the longest Cap Tally ever worn?'. He met a rating on the Gosport Ferry in the 1950s who boasted that he had the longest cap tally and it was on the smallest ship in the RN, HMS Knaresborough Castle. Can anyone confirm this. HMS Cressy: Seeking information on the loss of Cressy, Aboukir and Hogue on 22 September 1914. Raymond Wright, on behalf of his father Thomas (who was only one at the time) would like to find out about John Wright, Raymonds grandfather who lost his life then. They would like to know if there are any services held to commemorate the loss. Raymond T Wright

HMS Cricket: Launched in 1916 spending most of her active service on the Far East Station, before sailing to Port Said in 1941 where she was sold. Peter Danks is keen to locate a photograph of the ship and will refund cost of postage if one is sent to him. Contact Peter

HMS Crane Association are seeking a photograph of the 'Honours Board', which was made in Hong Kong in 1954. All expenses will be paid. Contact the Secretary

Cap Tallies: I'm trying to collect cap tallies for all the ships & shore bases my father served on - so far I only have 'Excellent' and 'Collingwood'. I would be pleased to hear from anyone who has any of these tallies or knows where I might obtain them or anyone who remembers my dad: FCPO Jeffrey 'Lou' Ticehurst. (Joined in 1952 - retired in 1979). He died over 10 years ago at the far too young age of 56. (HMS: Saintes, Hornet, Solebay, Caesar, Terror, Jaguar, Bulwark, Brighton, Glamorgan, Nelson,Vernon - 'comic cuts' also list what I think may have been other shorebases of Phoenicia, Victory, Pembroke). HMS Chieftain: If anyone knows the whereabouts of the ships bell of HMS Chieftain could they contact Pete Marley, his wife, Wendy was christened on Chieftain and her name was engraved on the bell. Her father was PO Elec Phil Steward. Contact Peter

HMS Crane was broken up in 1965. Does anyone know what happened to her 'any of her atefacts, especially the 'Name Plates'. The 'Honours Board' has been found in the Royal Naval Museum at Portsmouth. If anyone knows the whereabouts of any items no matter how small could they contact the Secretary, Tony Nuttall
