Ask Jack - N

HMS Norfolk:  Does anyone remember serving with CPO John Corbin? Remember him serving on the Norfolk and the Juno in the 60s and 70s. He also did a stint out in Singapore where he met his wife and married in 1961. If anyone has any memories or funny stories they can pass on to his daughter as she is making a personal book for his grandchildren to remember him as he died back in March 2003. Contact Mrs Tracey Sawyer

Great Dane ‘Able Seaman Just Nuisance’:  Can anybody provide Anthony Murphy, copies of photographs of his memorial in Simonstown, and grave. He will reimburse costs and postage. Please contact Anthony Murphy

HMS Newcastle: Would anyone have a copy of the Newcastle Commission Book 1955-1957 and who would be willing to photocopy it? Cost of copying and postage fully reimbursed. Contact Gerald Marlow

Naval Landing Brigade: Does anyone have any photographs of the last known landing of a Naval Brigade at Valetta, Malta 1951/52. Also does anyone have photographs of the Seaman Guard for King George of Greece aboard the Gambia at Athens 1951/2. Willing to pay for any copies. Contact John Harris

Northern Gem: Trying to find out about my father in laws Naval career. We know he served on the Northern Gem in WW2, his name was William Henry Bacon if anyone has any information on him or this vessel I would be pleased to hear from them. I would also be pleased to find any photographs of this vessel. Contact Nicola Bacon

HMS Nubian: Dave Hale is tracing his family tree and believes his grandfather served on HMS Nubian during the Second World War. He has vague pieces of information, some linking the Nubian to a convoy in which HMS Hood was to meet her end at the hands of the Bismark, although this may be a bit of yarn-spinning from his dad! His grandfather was Edward Ernest Hale and the commander of the Nubian may have been RW Ravenhill. Contact Dave
