Yacht Vistona:
We are looking for descendants of James (or John) HP Campbell born
around 1920, serving as officer in the Royal Navy during World
war II. He lived some time in Ireland and had a sister living in
Ischia Italy. He was a good sailor and owned Yacht Vistona. We
are the actual owners of Vistona and are tracing all kinds of information
on her history. Contact Gian

Victory 1805 Souvenir Medallion: Whilst visiting an
Antiques shop in Dunedin, New Zealand, Ken came across this copper
centenary souvenir, about the size of a 5 pence piece. On the
front was an embossed three masted sailing ship and inscripted
underneath Victory 1805. Inscribed on the reverse was “From
B.F.S.S. Nelson Centenary. Containing Victory Copper. ER VII”.
Does anyone have any information regarding this medallion and
what BFSS stands for? Contact Ken

HMS Vehement was struck by a mine with
the loss of all hands on 2nd August 1918. The mother of William
Higgs was newly married to Robert Cook who perished that day. Some
years later she married again and William was born and he is researching
his family history. He would like to learn about the members of
the ship and maybe correspond with surviving relatives. Contac William

I have in my possession here in South Africa a
souvenir booklet containing comprehensive photographic coverage
of the `brand new`, newly commissioned HMS `Vanguard. The
booklet was available for sale in the ship`s bookstall in 1946.
What makes this item rather special however is that the back cover
is signed in the original by many of the original ship`s officers
including the Commanding Officer, Capt. W.G. Agnew, C.B., C.V.O.,
D.S.O.,* who signed himself R.Adm. and the Executive Officer, Commander
W.J. Lamb, M.V.O., O.B.E. I consider this signed booklet to be
an important piece of memorabilia which deserves a stowage more
appropriate than the bookshelf in my study here. I would be grateful
for suggestions for a suitable home for the item. Contact P.J.C.
