HMS Richmond - Atlantic Challenge - Update 16th April
When HMS Richmond deployed for the USA on the 25 March the crew decided to travel the Atlantic the hard way; by rowing and cycling the equivalent distance from Richmond upon Thames via Richmond N Yorkshire to Richmond in Virginia USA.

The total distance of 5217 kilometres (as the crow flies) will be completed by two teams of 18 who are working in relays on a continuous daily rota while the ship is at sea. The aim is to cover the distance prior to the ship's planned visit to Richmond Virginia in June 02.

Each individual undertaking the challenge will be required to complete 289.8 kilometres by a combination of rowing and cycling with the stipulation that at least 80 kilometres of each individual effort must be completed on the rowing machine.

The crew is using the challenge to raise money for charity and intend to divide the money raised between cancer research and locally supported Ship's charities.

Progress reports and distances travelled will be posted as the challenge progresses.
