| HMS Richmond has continued the tradition
of ships leaving their mark in the former HMS Malabar, Bermuda,
during her recent visit.
Over the many years that Bermuda was a working Naval Base,
an impressive collection of painted ship's crests from Royal
Navy and foreign ships has been built up on the walls of
the dockyard buildings.
Despite the closure of Malabar and the change to commercial
ownership nearly ten years ago the crests remain in remarkably
good condition and Richmond's short visit to Bermuda at the
start of her deployment to Atlantic Patrol Task (North) was
an ideal opportunity to continue the tradition.
Wasting no time, LMEM Joe Jordan completed the crest in
just under a day, ensuring that it was ready for viewing
by the Cocktail Party Guests in the evening of the ship's
second day alongside.
Cdr Mike McCartain, the CO, said: "The Royal Navy has
always had close links with Bermuda and it's great that we
have been able to continue the tradition of leaving the ship's
hallmark in the Naval dockyard.” |
