HMS RICHMOND Presents a cheque to the Royal Star and Garter Home
10.02.05

Lt’s Steve White, Jack Frost and Petty Officer Phil Bolton from HMS Richmond challenged themselves to participate in the Winchester Triathlon with the objective of raising funds for the Royal Star & Garter Home for disabled ex-service men and women.

The Naval trio succeeded in completing the 400m swim, 20 mile bike ride and 6 mile run with their collective effort raising £457-52.

The money will go towards making the residents of the home that bit more comfortable by helping to supply them with everyday needs and useful items.

Lt Steve White said “Our visit to Richmond is an ideal opportunity to handover the cheque and to meet some of the residents again”.

The Royal Star & Garter home is due to close in a few years and is currently looking at alternative sites in the Richmond area, the principle reason for the change is the need to provide a more suitable residence for the ex-servicemen and women, one that gives them enhanced accessibility and facilities.

HMS Richmond’s link will continue and the ship looks forward to supporting them through the future changes.
