A final flourish for Cdr Mike McCartain as he leaves the ship for the last time
07.04.05

Thursday April 7th marked the end of another chapter in the life of HMS Richmond as Commander Mike McCartain handed over control of the ship to the Senior Naval Officer, Lt Cdr Rob Fulford in the lead up to the Refit in Portsmouth.

This also marks the culmination of a very successful period for the ship, most noticeably in the recent Deployment to the Caribbean, where the ship was involved in Disaster Relief work in the Turks and Caicos Islands, Grenada and Grand Cayman.

HMS Richmond's efforts in the Caribbean were also recognised in the recent operational awards where several members of the Ship's Company received awards with Commander McCartain being awarded the OBE.
