USS America: Senior Chief Mike Torbert, United States Navy is looking for a Royal Navy Sailor he met back in 1985 during a port visit to Portsmouth while aboard the USS America. His name was Scott Gemmel (I may have spelled the last name incorrectly) and his wife's name was Vanessa. He was a cook and I remember him telling me he was stationed in Gosport. Additionally, he told me he had served aboard an HMS during the Falklands. I had a great time visiting the pubs and London with Scott and Vanessa. HMS Albion: David served on HMS Albion with her first commissioning crew in 1954, and has recently been in contact with some messmates from that time. One of them – Jack (Jim) Green – lost contact with a fellow crew mate from that time. His surname was Troman. He served on Albion 1954/56, and then went to HMS Newcastle 1956/58. He had a sister who was married to a police traffic officer, Portsmouth City Police. Troman came from the Middlesbrough area. We were all Engine Room branch crew. HMS Antrim: Stephen Hughes served in the Royal Navy onboard HMS Antrim during the Falklands Conflict, and was wondering if where he could obtain a calendar of events of the ship during the conflict. After numerous hours ‘surfing’ the net he has found little reference to the ships actions and would hope that a more exact diary would be available to him. Perhaps someone has got a copy of HMS Antrim’s decommissioning book and would be willing to sell/ photocopy it for him. HMS Adamant: I am trying to contact any member of the HMS Adamant Association. I am in the U.S. In 1971, I obtained at an antique sale a mug with an inscription of “HMS Adamant 1944”. The mug is made out of brass artillery shells of different calibres. The mug also has a coin and a button (I believe it is a Royal Navy clothing button). The large part of the mug is approximately 3 1/2” in diameter by 4 3/4” tall. Inscribed on the bottom is “75.1897.G” and “R.5.4.28” and two smaller symbols, one of which resembles a pineapple. The handle of the mug is approximately 3/4” in diameter and 4 1/4” tall. Inscribed on the bottom of the handle is “1943 W H 0.Z”. I would possibly like to donate this mug to the organization if this is something they would be interested in having. Contact Darrell LoPiccolo

Geordie Hannon served twice onboard this fine ship. 892 Squadron: January 1972-September 1974. Ships Company: April 1975-May 1978. HMS Ascension:  J.B.Cass was in Ascension during 1944-5 when she was involved with convoy protection and hunter killer operations, sinking U22 on November 25, 1944. He is haunted by the memory of two allied ships being sunk by U-boats and Ascension being unable to stop and pick up survivors. He would like to know what ships they were and contact any survivors. Gunboat Aphis, China Station: The late AB Percy Newton was a gunner who possibly shot at or blew up a building whilst on the station. In a letter from the HD Owen was a photo of the damage done, but this photo cannot be found. Ian Newton is trying to trace any living relatives of HD Owen, whose address in 1931 was Plas-yn Grove, Ellesmere, Shropshire, in the hope that they may be able to help. Contact Ian Newton

TS Arethusa: seeking anyone who served with, or can recall Lionel 'Bob' Crowe. Bob was on the TS Arethusa with Bob Knight and he joined the Royal Navy at Chatham, in 1948. He left the service in 1961. He originated from Bude, Cornwall, but he is not resident in that area according to the electoral roll. Whilst on the 'Arethusa' Bob gained his crossed flags and it is assumed he pursued a career as a 'bunting tosser.' If anyone knows Bob's whereabouts, can you contact Bob

HMS Atreus: Lt Commander T A Ashdown D.S.O. talked little about his war time exploits except when he was in command of the 17th & 50th M.L. Flotilla’s. Between 4/5/44 and 27/11/44 he was 1st Lt on the minelayer HMS Atreus, but his son has not been able to find any information on this ship or her operations at this time except that she was a converted merchant ship. She is not listed in Janes during either 1942 or 44 can any one help? On completion of this commission he was captain of the L.S.T.157 from 2/12/44 to discharge on the 18/2/46 again apart from a few photo’s we have no details of what operations this ship undertook during his service.
