HMS Loch Fada: According to the navy records of Bill, he
served aboard Loch Fada from 19 Jan 1960 Ð 12 May '61 as a killick
QA2. It seems such a long time ago and a few bypasses later it
is still a mystery how they managed to include a fishery protection
experience then a stint in the Gulf followed by a visit to Bombay
and a trip down the African coast in such a short time - it hardly
beggars belief. Bill is now a member of the Britannia Naval Research
Association. They meet in Woodstock, Nr Oxford, once a month to
discuss our naval heritage, from Drake to Dreadnought and beyond.
He'd love to get some details, maybe photos, of the time when they
captured an Arab dhow and some of the crew sailed it to Muscat.
Or the time they were obliged to refit in Karachi due to ramming
a whale in the Indian Ocean. He'd also like to know if anyone of
that commission kept their 'Crossing the Line' certificate which
he designed and had printed in Bahrain. Bill
