HMS Statesman: The late PO (Tel) Frederick Barron
served on HMS Statesman, possibly 1940-46, when he died at age
21 from cancer. His grandson is trying to trace anyone who served
with him. He is trying to do the family tree and would like to

my family history, particularly about my father, George Browning
(deceased),
who served on HMS Sardonyx (Jul 1940 - Apr 1943) and HMS Icarus

the story of Worthing-born Stoker George Goldring, who was at
Totton late 1944 to September
1945. Among his effects is a copied series of verses about officers,
ratings and Wrens at Totton in 1945. Names that appear include
Lt-Cdr Caunter (CO) and Elect Lieut Maddams (both RNVR), Stokers
Arthur Brown, Frank Squires, Matthew Wainwright, William Baldwin,
Taffy Wilberforce, Kit Carson, Wrens Ross, Ward, Brook, Ivy Saunders,

HMS Shropshire: George (Gus) Harris is seeking
anyone who served with him from 1938 to 1942 in HMS Shropshire.
Contact George HMS/m Sickle: The Epping Forest District Museum,
based in Waltham Abbey, Essex, are having an exhibition in 2008
about a Second World
War 'S' class submarine - HMS/m Sickle. She was sponsored by
the then Epping Urban District Council and was tragically lost
with
all hands in June 1944. The Museum would be interested to hear
from any of the crew's relatives or submariners who may have
served on her. We are looking for documents, photographs or objects
relating

SS Solon: Chris would like to contact any wartime Royal Navy gunners
who served on civilian ships during the Atlantic or Carribean campaigns
during 1939-45. His uncle who was a leading seaman gunner aboard
SS Solon 2 died when she was sunk by U508 during 1942 off Guyana.
Chris would like to know more about how his uncle would have been
employed etc., prior to this, and any other info about a gunners

with Jonathan Head, Smudge Smith and Taffy Jones, all served with
John at HMS St Angelo on FO2s barge, We had a 45 foot and a 25
foot barge. Does Taffy remember our Sunday’s lying off Cominuto
while the Admiral and his wife and daughter went swimming. Remember

a photograph of Hughes Class at St George, taken in 1947 at the
end of the 4th week of New Entry training, class instructor PO
Lewis. It was a mixed class 26 Writers and 6 Signalmen. He met
one in Singapore in 1967, one in Plymouth and one at the HMS Ceres

and 1997. As a WAFU was predominantly stationed at RNAS Portland
829 and 815 squadrons. Also served on HMS Edinburgh, between 1992/3

HMS Superb: Frank (Dodger)
Long served in HMS Superb 1955-1957.as an M(e)1 and also as a
National Savage as he was called. He is in touch with some of
the old crew but would love to contact Pete Francis who was a
Killick and a regular. Last seen manning the donkey boiler in

Reg Swanborough purchased his discharge from the RN in Hong Kong
whilst in HMS Adamant. He chose to be discharged in Australia, not
UK and has been there ever since. He joined the RAN and is a member
of the Arctic Convoy Veterans of Australia, having made four trips
to Kola Inlet. In 1940 he was HMS Manchester. Reg
