Lt Cdr Nelson Wheelwright: married Flora McDonald in 1912 and died in Nailsworth in 1922. They had 3 children including John , it’s believed, married a Mary Crick in Portsmouth in 1950. John’s sisters were Patricia and Jeune. WRNS: Alice Hogg (nee Maxwell) was in the WRNS from February 1970 until June 1972. She joined HMS Dauntless in the February 1970 and was part of AJAX 234 Division. Her PO(Reg) was POW Reynolds and her officer was 2nd. Officer Spencer. She left HMS Dauntless to join HMS Dryad with some other WRNS Jane Bird, Sue Jackson, Linda Reynolds. She then left HMS Dryad to join HMS Pembroke. She became a Wren Wtr (Pay) and found herself at Victory Barracks in the Pay Office.

HMS Warrior Association are seeking shipmates who served on the 'Warrior' at any time or commission during 1946 to 1958. Trooping during the Korean conflict, the Far East and involvement in relocating refugees in Vietnam followed by the award of Presidential Citation and Operation Grapple. Contact John

Aircraft Carrier, HMS Warrior: Seekeing anyone who sailed on the carrier, on or about Sept/Oct 1951, when it’s believed she was bound for Korea. Thirty RAF personnel came aboard at Bishops Brigg on the Clyde and were accommodated in ‘D’ Mess. We sailed to Port Said where we disembarked. It was a ten-day journey with a one-day break in Malta. HMS Wessex 1939-40:  Seeking anyone who knew Peter ‘Pat’ Reid, originally from Buckie, and had Pat tattooed on his arm. His wife Annie Mary Reid (née Stewart from Port Gordon) talks about the months when the Wessex was dry docked in Milford Haven, Wales. Eric Toogood: In November 2000, Eric, a WWII veteran of HMS Warspite was a passenger in a taxi. The taxi driver and Eric discovered they were both Navy veterans. Dick Barner had been trying to trace Eric for 60 years and thanks to the taxi driver who reads Navy News, we were reunited. We would like the taxi driver to contact us, so we can thank him. HMS Walker: Brian is researching his family history, in particular Alfred, George, Henham Knott – known as George. He married in 1930, aged 20, and he has a photograph of that wedding with him in his navy uniform. The certificate says he was at that time serving aboard HMS Walker. Brian is trying to find details about HMS Walker around 1930, and also about George Knott. He would appreciate any information anyone has. Contact Brian Conroy

HMS Wolfe: Terry Woods is researching his late Father's (known as Slinger or Timber) war record and is anxious to talk/meet with anyone who knew or knew of him during 1942-45; his service certificate states he was an AB and mainly served on HMS Wolfe [submarine depot ship], although he was hospitalised in Scotland after being wounded in Norway[no dates] and took part in the landings on Ramree Island from being based in Trincomalee. HMS Wastwater: On 1st Dec 1941, Maurice Hampson replaced a British Tel. who had been taken ashore with appendicitis, at Halifax, Nova Scotia. He sailed straightaway to provide submarine escort for Lord Kelvin, a cable repair ship. His Naval Record originally showed this but somewhere along the way has been crossed out. To get this reversed he wants to contact any surviving crew members who can testify that he was indeed on board at that time. Contact Maurice

HMS Wallflower: Seeking service photos of Stoker, James (Jim) Fitzgerald. He may have been called Paddy or MIck as he came from Co. Kilkenny, Ireland. He served in Wallflower 1942/45. If anyone has photographs or knew him could they contact his son, Richard Fitzgerald

HMS Wensleydale (Hunt Class Escort Destroyer. I am a native of the dale and have been researching the ship on and off for a few years now. I have a list of the members of the Wensleydale Association (now disbanded) and have met a number of them. I would be interested to speak to anyone who served on Wensleydale, or anyone who has memories of her. HMS Warrior 1979/81: Seeking Chef, Daisy (Mick) Adams. Daisy worked with Vincent (Nick) Nicholas also a chef. Wrens 1951/55: Served as Wren Air Radio Mechanic in 750 Sqd at RNAS St Mervyn and later Culdrose (HMS Seahawk). Also served in 849 Sqd. If anyone remembers Dorothy Allen contact her.

HMS Wakeful 1956/9: John Reilly, ships diver, would like to hear from his old shipmates and learn more of the ships in which he served. Other ships were HMS Whirlwind and Wizard what happened to them? Contact John

WWTR Lesley Kingsbury would love to hear from any of her old friends. She is now living back in Ipswich and really misses the old days. She was in the WRNS from 1990 to 1995. Mostly in HMS Nelson and HMS Dolphin.

George Watkinson, served on HMS Whimbrel in the North Atlantic, Russian Convoys, South Pacific. He is now 95 years of age and in very good health. He is always recounting the events and experiences he had during his time with his ship and his daughter, Beryl Bird (Watkinson), wondered if any of his shipmates are also still with us, who may like to contact him by her email:
